Later this day, CONTACT Altoona will have a table at the ELECT Resource Fair that is happening at the Altoona Area High School’s Cafeteria – it is open to the public. Come see us and ask how we can help you or one of your family members or friends. See Attached Flyer.

Also, in June I am attending a training put on by the Blair County Chamber’s Committee of Non-Profit Businesses called Managing Your Online Reputation. It will be geared towards non-profits, but anyone can attend. See Attached Flyer.

How are we going to get everywhere we need to be and do everything that needs done

Some days I wonder, “How are we going to get everywhere we need to be and do everything that needs done?” With our limited staff, we don’t always have the ability to take advantage of the great opportunities to participate in events and spread the word about the great services CONTACT Altoona offers to Blair County residents and businesses. In addition to working with individuals through our Helpline and our Reassurance Program, we also go to businesses and other organizations to inform their staff on resources that are available through CONTACT Altoona and other entities.

CONTACT Altoona will be participating in several May events – “May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to educating our community, reducing stigma, and encouraging open conversations about mental well-being. Mental health impacts 1 in 5 individuals each year, and early support can make a critical difference. Awareness efforts help individuals feel less alone, encourage them to seek help sooner, and strengthen our overall community,” said Lori Craine of Blair Health Choices. Check out the attached flyers to learn more about Mental Health Awareness Month and how as a business you are encouraged to display a green light during the month of May. We will also have a table at the Altoona Curve games on Thursday, May 21st and Friday, May 22nd so stop by and say hello!

CONTACT Altoona will also be attending the Poverty & the Impact on Blair County event on May 8th. See the attached flyer.
